there is a huge wave of cosmic shit blowing through my corner of the universe lately
wtf is going on?

i've written about my friend who lost her baby in april and all she's been dealing with right now. she had an mri on monday, which turned up a chiari malformation. i've done a bit of googling on it but still really don't understand it, but from what i can understand, part of her brain is now resting on the spinal cord. she's seeing a specialist next week.

another friend of mine has also been going through an extremely difficult time. her husband (who is 28) wound up in the hospital for what appeared to be a heart attack (turned out not to be, but scared the shit out of them), she then got attacked by bees and, a few days later, her dad was struck by lightening. she just called me to tell me that a good friend of hers just died, leaving a two-year-old daughter behind.

i know this may come across as selfish, but i'm tired of feeling so powerless to help my friends. these two girls are the best friends that i have, they are my family and all i want is for them to be ok. :(

It's like a wave of suck and pain has descended on many of us. I'm suspicious, in the supernatural sense.

Maybe Mercury is retrograde, but I don't do Astrology, and even then, it wouldn't be this fucked up.

Keep your eyes open and watch your back, sweet girl.

We'll get through this. :)

2. I have no idea.
Shit storms happen. Sometimes it just feels like the universe is sending all the bad stuff in one direction. I hope that this storm begins to blow over soon.

Please remember that your friends know that you are there for them. Even when you don't think you're helping them, you are.

5. There's a total solar eclipse on Friday, for what it's worth.
We won't be able to see it in the States, but the energy still effects us.

12. Well...
I have to take 2 different meds 4 times a day. There's headaches, nausea and tremors that happen. Rarely, like maybe once every 6 months, I might have a seizure.

I hate it that I can't drive or ride a bike. I hate it that my memory and hand-eye coordination is crap. I have NLD.

It's a bitch, I tell ya.

8. Sometimes all you can do is listen.
There is no one on this earth who can do for me the one thing that I need. Just knowing I have a couple of people who care, without strings, helps. No, it may not feel like enough... but when that is all you can offer, it is enough.

13. No corner of the universe is safe
Last week my brother's sister-in-law, who I've known since she was about 9 years old, got into a horrible car accident. Her six month old baby died. Her parents and 5 year old were driving right behind her and witnessed the whole thing.

She had to attend the funeral on a stretcher, because she shattered her lower leg and fractured her hip. Her nine year old couldn't go because she was still in the hospital with tubes stuck up her nose and fractured vertebrae.

Three years she ago she had to bury another baby in a tiny coffin. Her baby was born without a brain and died 25 hours after birth. How in the world does one pick themselves up after shit like that? What can one possible say or do to help???

i don't know how one picks themselves up after something like that, i have been blessed to never have to find out firsthand.

but, as other posters have said, sometimes all you can do is be with them and listen to them if they need to talk.

17. I have a Chiari.
Edited on Wed Jul-30-08 07:50 PM by fudge stripe cookays
Rosanne Cash also recently had surgery on hers.

Mine is not very serious, but they detected it on my last MRI. I have to have yearly ones for my MS.

Essentially, imagine the very back of your skull, where the rounded part descends toward your spine. In that narrowing area is a little V shape between the bone and where your brain is.

If your brain sags just a little bit into that V shaped depression, that's a Chiari malformation. They have degrees. So mine, not being very serious, has never caused me any problems (that I know of), and I wouldn't have even known I had it if the MRI hadn't caught it.

For folks like Rosanne (and your friend), the problems are more serious, causing constant serious headaches and other problems like the resting on the spinal cord thing.

Hope your friends (and you) will be OK.

i don't know how serious it is yet, but she has been having headaches for several weeks now, which is why she went in for the mri. this is the last thing she needs to be dealing with right now.

36. Bad stuff is happening all over.
I almost called the cops on my way through the parking lot just now - thank the gods I understand Spanish! I saw a large man struggling with a woman who was flailing about. When I yelled "Need any help?" she yelled back at me (in Spanish) that she was pregnant and her belly hurt. I offered to call an ambulance, but another neighbor gave them a ride to the hospital. I hope she's all right - I'm not even sure where they live.

Well, at least I know now that people in this complex look out for each other. But I'm still shaken.
