I've fallen, and I can't get up!

Seriously.

I mentioned a few days back I was having weird nerve glitches in my leg- well, today, while barefoot in the kitchen, it suddenly happened again, and my knee completely buckled. My foot slipped out behind me and I went crashing straight down onto my kneecap.

Ow.

Fortunately I was able to put my hands down and absorb a bit of the shock of falling, but I'm here to tell ya when a 240 lb. man hits the floor on one knee it HURTS.

Nothing broken, fortunately- x-rays proved that. Nothing torn or badly strained, just some deep bruising that's gonna hurt like a mofo for a few days. Right now I can barely walk, as my knee doesn't wanna work quite right. Good thing I have my choice of crutches, a cane, and a selection of knee braces. Plus some Darvocet and Ultram.

Gonna sleep in tomorrow and I AIN'T answering any calls.

Good thing I didn't fall on my OTHER knee- that one's plastic and steel. I'd have been in a wheelchair for life.

Owie.

1. Do they have any idea WHY you fell?
As someone with unreliable limbs, I can empathize and tell you that's pretty damned scary. :scared:

I hope your doctor is planning some tests to figure this out. Be well.

6. I'd like to think we're kindred souls, but
I know you have a WAY more intimate knowledge of deep pain than I ever will.

And I'm extremely jealous of the Enterpoop, BTW- nobody ever volunteered to pimp MY ride for me...

8. I hope you never get that deep knowledge.
I'm hoping you experience Less pain, not more.

I'll happily loan you the Enterpoop for an afternoon at a convention somewhere. We'll get all the geeks together for a fun weekend somewhere and see who can get convince convention cuties to sit in our laps for pictures. :P

2. My dear Prisoner_Number_Six!
Oh good grief...

What a terrible thing to happen...

Thank goodness nothing's broken!

Any idea what caused it?

Take care of yourself!

3. Not the first clue.
I went into a fairly major but (I thought at the time) brief arthritic flareup a couple days back- that may be part of it. Bad lower backache, one ankle swollen and painful, muscle cramps in my legs, aching knees- the works. Arthritis is such a mysterious beastie- it's hard to figure stuff like that out.

7. Please get yourself checked for MS just to be safe
I know from a family friend with it that leg crumpling is a classic symptom.

9. lol- ok.. try not to laugh though
Imagine if you will..

A feller who is recently divorced and is sure gonna clean all the cooties, stds, and critters from the hoochie he just kicked outta the house.

The feller is injured and can barely scooch on the ground.. let alone do any heavy lifting.

The bed was the target... ever so carefully the mattress was pushed up and leaning on the wall. Boxsprings moved outside.. frame outside as well...

I lysol one side of the mattress and go to move it in the basically empty room so I can spray the other side... bad idea.

Mind you, I'm sitting on my ass moving this thing.. err.. omg... oops.. lost my grip!

The mattress perfectly centers me as it falls. I'm spread eagle under it.. laughing my ass off. My Chow came to investigate. He grinned and left...

Noone else was in the house. It took me like 45min to inch-by-inch get out from under it.

Good times.
