In this job, you get almost all of the perqs of being POTUS (and let's face it, no one takes the gig for the money -- it's all about the perqs!)
You get a house in DC -- just not one as nice as the President's You get the use of a hellacious private jet -- the one the last President used You get Secret Service protection -- just from agents who aren't quite as competent as the ones protecting POTUS
... but for all of this, all you really have to do is..
1. Remain reasonably sober 2. Show up at funerals -- sound sad 3. Occasionally run the Senate 4. OK -- 1 doesn't even really apply
This is the job that I aspire to have, some day.
That said, I support Brett Favre. For one thing, as a Cal Grad, I realize this may be the only way Aaron Rogers will ever start. Secondly, it avoids those embarrasing final couple of seasons legendary QBs often play outside the city of their fame. Third, I think we should always have a veep that motivates the security around the President, and his driver, and his medical staff, to do their jobs just a little bit better. Fourth, he can afford the pay cut. Fifth, if Jason Campbell goes down, he's -- literally -- right down the street, and he'd pick up on Jim Zorn's offense no problem, and I don't think it'd detract from his VP duties one bit.
Sure, he's probably a frothing-at-the-mouth righty, but I think his lack of obvious qualifications and his potential to take the Redskins to Super Bowl XXXXIV far outweigh any actual ideology he might have.
