1. I saw one yesterday.
Boy, it's not the most attractive vehicle around, but it's nice when considering how expensive gas is.

6. Post the Civic Hybrid, too.
It looks like a regular Civic by appearance. :-)

7. is that bottom one the 2004?
or the 2003? i like the prium better 1) because it doesnt look like a "design a car of the future" contest winner and 2) the prius seats for comfortably (for a toyota) and the insight is only a 2 seater.

5. By coincidence....
I saw a Honda Insight and a new Prius on the road yesterday. I'd say the Prius looks pretty cool. In a funky sort of way. I read a review of this car a few months ago in which the reviewer said folks he'd met while driving the car were impressed with the looks--some said they had rejected the old Prius because it looked cheap, but liked the look of this one and might buy it.

8. My next car
I love this car. Since I'm the one with the longer drive to work, I'm getting the next new car. Don't know when. I love my Civic and can't even think about parting with it.

But I know my next car will be a hybrd.

11. I test drove a Prius, and it was pretty cool!
I test drove a Prius over a year ago, and it does not drive the way you might expect. It struck me as very responsive. It is also very smooth and quiet, as you would expect. It is also very solid feeling. Remember, this is not a light car. A lot of the weight is due to the batteries, so I guess that does not help you in an accident, but I just want to make the point that it feels pretty solid.

The one I test drove was a weird color. These new ones look nice. I am not into government forcing us into smaller cars through gas taxes, but we have definitely been going in the wrong direction by moving to large SUVs when we should be getting less dependent on oil. For lots of reasons, one of which is that the money we have paid for ME oil has helped fund terrorists and made us treat some of those countries like we need them (because we do).

14. I took an '03 out for a spin
Did enjoy it, although it still felt like a plastic box. 2004 looks cooler, though.

I dunno. As much as I want one, I'm just not convinced the "pollution and petroleum saved by driving Prius" is going to outweigh "pollution and petroleum associated with new car production" if I just pick up a new car every few years.

20. Just that
...We've got a car. Energy and materials were consumed to make it. If sell it, and get another one, there are associated environmental costs with the production.

From an environmental perspective, we should drive this one into the ground, before buying another vehicle -- regardless of how good the fuel economy is.

15. I hope other manufacturers jump on the hybrid bandwagon.
When I trade in my PT Cruiser in 2-3 years, i'd love to be able to get a hybrid version.

23. I ordered mine last month
My current car is a 2001 Prius, the best car I ever owned. I'm in line to get a 2004 in August, yes there's a long waiting list.

In addition to 60 mpg, they have almost zero air pollution.
