4. Social bookmarking...
you bookmark (the correct term is actually "tag") things that interest you, your friends can access your tags and see what you've been up to intellectually. Alternately, you can see the most-tagged items and discover new things.

It doesn't really work...Perez Hilton generates more del.icio.us tags than anything on the internet...that's either proof that the system is overrun with idiots and that our future looks a lot like Idiocracy.

5. I like it.
I like the fact that I can access my bookmarks from any computer via del.icio.us. I even started an account for my students last semester so that links to all of the web-based resources we used in our computer labs were in one place.
