Big Rains in South Louisiana and South Mississippi
Heavy downpours for about five hours now. Bourbon Street cleaned naturally from the "remnants" of a week of heavy partying. Mardi Gras to go on rain or shine. And then Ash Wednesay and all our sins will be forgiven.

2. Floods on the West Bank (south) of New Orleans?
I'm not near a TV, but my parents live down there. I'm worried a bit, although at worst, they'll probably get water up to their doorstep (the new pumping stations have been working pretty well the last few years).

3. Hell, da Quater never floods
so hie yourselves down there and get staked out. Sounds like a good excuse to get their today and stay 'till tomorrow.

The West Bank, now them's my old stomping grounds as a newspaper reporter. There was never a more sorry excuse for selling swamplands to fools than the West Bank much south of 4th St.

5. Light another cigarette?
Sorry. No offense intended. But that was one way teenage boys convinced their mothers they hadn't squandered their entire Ash Wednesday school holiday.
