In DU's General Discussion forum, do you ever get the impression...
that DU members who respond to your post with a question don't actually care whether or not you read the question and don't actually want an answer, but are simply hoping that some audience of lurkers (distracted lurkers who aren't paying close attention and don't actually care about the topic under discussion) will be impressed?

It's like "Good morning" which can be translated as "Look at the time. It's morning. Also, I bet that neither one of us is a propagandist/lunatic/sophist who hangs around in GD."
15. A lurker might, for example, be simultaneously doing a number
of things and not concentrating on any one of them.
A lurker might care enough to look or skim, but not to analyze or study.
A lurker might have a state of mind associated with watching TV ads: unwilling to put in the effort to change the channel and unlikely to check Consumer Reports magazine before spending money.
