How do they decide who the jury foreman is?

1. It's left up to the jurors to decide how they want to pick a foreperson.

I've seen everything from simple votes, secret ballots to the funniest one I had where my jury was 11 men and 1 woman. I was surprised to see the woman was the foreperson (not because she was a woman, but because she was a very quiet, timid person). After the verdict I asked one of the guys how they picked her to be the foreperson and he told me that she was the first one that got up to go to the bathroom after they retired to deliberate....LOL

When I sat on a jury, we picked the one guy who'd done it before. I wasn't in the running, being an alternate.
