Man loses cash to wind; did bystanders help or take it?
TORRANCE, Calif. - A dozen bystanders rushed in to help a 70-year-old man after he stumbled leaving a Southern California bank, causing thousands of dollars to scatter in the wind.

Ludwig Geier says hundreds of bills were "gone in no time," flying through the air and littering the First National Bank's parking lot in Torrance on Monday.

Almost immediately, about a dozen bystanders rushed in to help. The machine shop owner says about 96 percent of the money was found.

1. 4% loss?
Sounds like a bunch of helpful honest folks. Good for them.

But if you get thousands out of a bank, stuff it in your pocket before walking out into the wind.

3. I remember a truck hauling cash for the Fed Reserve crashed in Cinci, OH
and cash was blowing all over the highway. People were helping themselves. They threatened to prosecute anyone they could i.d. as having picked up this cash.
An anonymous person sent them a letter thanking them for the cash and for setting up their retirement in Mexico!
But that's the Fed and not some old dude losing his cash. I would have helped him. Now the Fed truck on the other hand...that would have been a real moral challenge!
