11. Oh I love collecting autographs
Most of them aren't with me but at home in the US. From the top of my head:

Almost all the I Love Lucy Cast (I don't have Little Ricky's autograph, but hopefully I can get it in time!)
My favourite, Kirby Puckett, on a ball with other players like Hrbeck, Anderson, and more
Florence Henderson (playbill). I found this one by chance, I got a huge box of autographs from an auction and she had signed the playbill for Sound of Music... I keep trying to find out when she was in the show... I think it was after Julie Andrews did her role.
Joe Pesci (photo)
Eleanor Roosevelt (letter that I got at a discount from a friend who owns an antique shop)
A number of books signed, especially Al Franken! (DNC meetup in 2006)
Eisenhower (possibly autopenned but I've looked at it from all angles and I can see the marks where the pen leaves the paper at times with the autograph... I'm not sure)
A couple of 1920's pictures that are "signed" (I think they are autopenned) I got them in the same box of playbills (cheapo)... I've got to frame them! Lillian Gish, Rudy Valentino... they're definitely autopenned...
Obama, Klobuchar, and my representative on a Klobuchar placard.

That's off the top of my head... I've got more.. I wrote to a lot of celebrities and they replied very kindly (Bob Hope is my favourite, he remembered my grandfather (met him during one of the Road To.. movies) and made note of it)

Only the Kirby Puckett ball is here with me in the UK. My mum said, "I'll bring it back! It's worth a lot of money now!" I said no, it's my childhood and I don't know if I want to give my ball up. (I spent a lot of time meeting the Twins after the 1987 world series as they did signings in my hometown). I also have a framed photo signed by one of the soldiers who raised the flag in Iwo Jima, my friend knew him and they knew of my affinity for these things so my friend asked him if he could sign a photo for me. Just now I found out he passed away last year! :-( RIP Chuck.

Edited on Mon Jul-21-08 08:19 PM by MikeH
Here are some of my autographs which I think are interesting enough to share; some of them might even be considered to be "cool".

Karl Haas, late host of long-time radio program Adventures in Good Music, autograph of his book Inside Music

Vincent Bugliosi, his book None Dare Call It Treason

Granny D, her book Walking Across America in My 90th Year

Thom Hartmann, his book Screwed, The Undeclared War Against the Middle Class

Gil Alexander-Moegerle, his book James Dobson's War On America

Robert Boston, of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, autograph of his book The Most Dangerous Man in America? (referring to Pat Robertson)

Keith Miller, Christian author noted for his books about relational aspects of the faith, and living out the Christian life as an adventure, autograph of a couple of his books (note: I no longer consider myself to be a Christian, but I still like and respect Keith Miller)

Bill Clinton, personal letter which I received from him from the White House in 1995 after I wrote to him expressing my concerns and feelings about a particular issue

I've got a picture of me performing on stage with Shania Twain, but she didn't actually stop and acknowledge our existance in any way shape or form. Her other band members were mostly pretty cool, one of them gave us guitar picks with the logo of that tour on 'em. :P Unfortunately the last of them got lost a few years ago so the picture is the only evidence I have that I was ever there.

65. Muhammad Ali, Bob Griese, Ted Hendricks
Nothing in the past 20 years. I should have collected more at big fights in Las Vegas but I'm not an autograph seeker.

67. Bob Dole
Ok, so it's not exactly a cool one. A friend of mine's grandfather was a big time Repub donor and Dole signed a Viagra clipboard for him. It says, "John, 'keep up' the good work." When John died a few years ago my friend got the clipboard and gave it to me as a gag since he knows how I feel about Dole and his type.

Also have a Harry F Byrd Jr autograph.

70. John Wooden ...
in a dog-eared copy of his book "They Call Me Coach." (I got it signed only a couple of years ago.)

The few others that I have are related to Cal athletics:
-- Joe Kapp, football player and coach
-- legendary basketball coach Pete Newell
-- Kevin Johnson, basketball player and possible mayor of Sacramento
-- Russ Critchfield, all-American basketball player in the 1960s

71. I have a few.
Being a science geek, I like to collect signatures of Nobel Laureates. I attended a meeting of Nobel Laureates when I was in grad school. I probably have 3 dozen signatures from laureates in the fields of medicine, chemistry and physics.

I also have an autographed picture of Bootsy Collins. He came to our house once when we lived in Cincinnati.
