Goodbye, IE, don't let the doorknob hit you in the ass on the way out!
Edited on Sun Feb-22-04 05:51 PM by JonathanChance
I found out that my parent's new machine has Netscape 7.0 along with Internet Exploder.

I have forthwith decided to quit uising IE and start using a real browser (at home, at least, I'll be stuck using IE at UW Marinette).

I love this tabbed browsing! That way, I don't have to muck about with all of those other windows!

I use FireFox, I only keep IE around because FireFox doesn't work on www.windowsupdate.com.

16. There's a Firefox extension that I use
Called IE View. When installed, it gives you a right-click option to open the current page in IE. Very handy!

3. You'll find that you'll get negligible pop-ups too.
Spam and hacking attempts will be at a minimum too because all those attempts are mainly aimed at MSIE.

6. I LOVE your post!
I got embroiled in a big debate on a Macromedia Dreamweaver forum recently. Many of their customers love Mozilla/Firefox and other open-source programs, but it's become pretty apparent to me that Macromedia is in Bill Gates' pockets. You wouldn't believe the arguments they come up with for not ditching Microsoft.

The most common arguments include, "It's no use. The public doesn't care," or "The public's too lazy to download Mozilla," or "They're too stupid to install it."

When I suggest that they put a simple article on their website EXPLAINING how to do it, they say, "It's no use. No one will take the time."

They sound like a bunch of public school teachers - convinced that reform is hopeless even before they lift a finger. I'm plugging Mozilla/Firefox on all my new websites, and especially on the anti-Microsoft site I'm building at http://www.freedomware.us/

11. I have a friend who says the same shit
I said IE was an inferior product. Firefox, Opera, etc... are just WAAAAAAY to cool, and feature rich. His response: MS has 98% market share. Well, that may be true, but it doesn't make it right!

17. Firefox 0.8
Previous versions were called Firebird and Phoenix. Anyway, it's at http://mozilla.org, splashed all over the main screen.

20. Netscape uses Mozilla code
and they're almost identical. AOL bought Netscape some time ago, and has announced that they will no longer update the browser. I'm using Netscape 7.1. When I upgrade, I'll go with Firefox. I usually wait until they fix the worst bugs though.

21. I use IE and have tabbed browsing, and multiple start pages and
programmable shortcut addresses (typing just 'd' gets me here), integrated popup blocker, flash animation stopper, etc etc.

26. Never fails. Netscape invents it, IE copies it.
Netscaper here since Netscape became available - several years before IE, I might add. Netscape has always been ahead of IE in almost every way.

24. Firefox rocks!
there's plenty of free open-source browsers that beat the pants off of IE. Netscape is not one of them.

25. The Image Zoomer extension for Firefox is cool too
Install that and you get a right-click menu command that lets you zoom in or out on any image. I've been using it a lot to zoom in for a better look at people's new avatars. It's also good for zooming out on images that are too big to fit on the screen all at once.
