Will Granny Clampett win a SAG award tonight?
Edited on Sun Feb-22-04 05:09 PM by joeybee12
I saw a review that compared Renee Zwelliger's perfoirmance in Cold Mountain to Granny Clampett--thought that was pretty damn funny.

Haven't seen the movie--have no intention of wasting three hours of my life watching talentless Nicole Kidman stare blankly into the camera.

1. Gee, I thought I was the only one
who felt that way about la Kidman. She destroys every movie she's in, but I think she reached the pinnacle of non-acting in "The Others." How on earth did Tom endure her as long as he did? On the other hand, Miss Zellwiger (sp?) has her moments. She's the new Lesley-Anne Warren, in my opinion.

2. Oh, I like Renee--I think she was robbed last year,
but I still think the comparison was funny.

I hope she does win, even though I'll never get to personally judge this perfromance.

And if you want to really see non-acting, rent Jane Campion's version of A Portrait of a Lady. Nicole is so awful it's a crime!

6. I realized how talented Renee is
Edited on Sun Feb-22-04 06:21 PM by neebob
when I stupidly bought - not rented, but bought, which is something I hardly ever do - Chicago. It gave me a severe case of buyer's remorse, but it did help me realize that Renee Zellweger - whose facial expressions just annoy the heck out of me for some reason - is truly an awesome talent. And Richard Gere and that other guy with the curly hair and the fold above his nose who's in everything can sing and dance. Who knew?

8. Saw Chicago in the theater, and as well-done as that movie is,
I don't want to see it again. The story is so heartless and soul-less that I felt dirty after watching it, even though the acting, directing, choreography and everything else is just first-rate.

5. I love Renee. After "Bridget Jones" she shot to the top..
of my list and has stayed there.

7. No, you're not the only one
The only thing I think she was halfway good in is Malice. Dead Calm and The Others were good, I thought, but not because of her. I watched a few minutes of Moulin Rouge and thought okay, maybe they liked her in that because it was so freakishly different and she sang. The Hours? Yawn! Total snoozer, and the fake nose was ridiculous. I don't get why anyone thinks she's a good actress. Then again, I don't get why anyone thinks Julia Roberts is a good actress. All she does is smile pretty and laugh out loud in an annoying way.

4. I could knock Nicole from now until Judgement Day, and it still wouldn't
be enough knocking for her amount of non-talent!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, I'd bet on Renee to win. She should have won for Chicago, but they all the members of the Academy received some acid along with their ballots last year!

10. Well, you're not the only one...
...sad to say (hee-hee).

Did you know that she and Naomi Watts are bets of friends? I wonder is Nicole is seething that Naomi got nominated and she didn't!

I do think Naomi is an incredible actress, just so you don't think I dislike everything Australian.

I think Nicole was happy for her friend. I hope she would be.

13. That is true
But I heard Nicole at the GG's say that she hopes Renee wins and hopes that her friend Patricia Clarkson won, even though Renee and Patricia were in the same category.

14. Aha! So she's two-faced!
And I bet she also said she's rooting for the Iranian actress as well!

15. Could be
two faced. That Iranian actress could be the spoiler at the Oscars, that's teh buzz that I read and heard recently.

16. That's what I've read also--that Renee is the favorite, but
that the Iranian actress just might win--Renee wasn't the shoe-in people thought she was a few weeks ago.

17. Renee is the odds-on favorite
but that category always seems to have surprises. Member when Goldie's daughther was the favorite for "Almost Famous" and then Marcia Gay Harden came out of no where to win the Oscar.

18. True, and Cold Mountain is a Miramax picture, and the Academy members
really dislike Harvey Weinstein. That's why last year Enimen won for best song over U2, and Chicago's Rob Marshall didn't win. Also, CM didn't get into the best picture category, which might hurt Renee.

As for Goldie's daughter--yawn! What a mediocre performance, while Marcia Gay Harden was amazing!
