1. My basil is like a house a-fire! Lots of grape tomatoes, some regular. Mostly herbs, though.
I should have planted cucumbers, too, 'cause now I'm hooked on them (in lieu of chips! ;) ).

2. Got lots of dill, and cilantro
my basil is still fairly small. I'll be pulling gobfuls of basil in mid-August. I make pesto, freeze it into blocks using ice cube trays, and then empty the trays of frozen pesto into gallon freezer bags. I've got basil almost year round this way.

I love this yummy time of year.

5. You can freeze your cilantro in a pesto form too.
The cilantro flavor degrades a bit but it's nice to add a little flavor to soups and stews.
Dill can simply be chopped and frozen without any additions. I pack it in a shallow plastic container (the commercial hummus container size) and scoop it out with a warmed spoon as needed.

Having fresh basil on a whim is great, isn't it?

6. That's why I call it my freedom garden!
I just planted a whole new row of Cilantro last week. I love that you can get two crops in a season.

Happy freedom gardening!

3. Cool dude
My tiny garden is doing well. I picked a couple baby zucchinis yesterday and pulled up some carrots to sautee for lunch. I have way too much lettuce and my tomatoes are all green. Cucumbers haven't flowered yet, but are getting bigger. Peppers are just flowering now. Peas didn't do so well this year, but I got a few. Little green worms have decimated most of my brussel sprout leaves. I'm not sure what that is. I've never tried to grow brussel sprouts before.

Thanks for the tour. :D

4. You must have a huge surplus
With our tiny garden (much smaller than yours) we harvest daily, and eat from the garden almost every day. You must be freezing a lot.

We save very little food for later. We eat it as it's harvested. Next year we're expanding, so we'll be able to freeze stuff for winter.

7. I plan on investing in lots of mason jars this year
as the canning will be in full force for beans and tomatoes at the very least.

Happy freedom gardening!
