The Beatles score their first-ever #1 hit when "Please Please Me" (on the Parlophone label) soars to the top of the British pop chart, as published in New Musical Express.

This was also my dad's birthday.

And on this date in 1987 (it was even a Sunday, too), I was ordained to the ministry of the United Church of Christ. Woo hoo!
