Having surgery tomorrow--- please send good karma my way!
I'm having my ulnar-nerve entrapment fixed, and maybe some additonal elbow work done, depending on what the doctor sees. It's being done out-patient, and I should be home by mid-afternoon, if all goes as planned.

I'm not TERRIBLY nervous about it, since I've had a few surgeries before, but... My brother is coming down to 'hold my hand', even though I told him it wasn't neccessary to do so, and tony's going to take care of things at the shop, so everything's covered in that regard.

:)

4. Yeah, my bro's a good guy!
I'll admit, it makes me feel better. I should be able to type afterwards, but don't know if I'll feel up to actually doing so until Tuesday. We'll see. :)

3. Ouch...Is the nerve trapped in the boney groove?
That hurts. I have known people who had to have the nerve re-seated, andthey have been very happy with the results. Good luck tomorrow, I will be thinking of you. :hi:

7. Thanks!
He said I'll have normal post-surgical pain, but that that should be far less than what I have now. He says it's a very gratifying procedure to do, because the improvemnt is almost always immediately obvious to the patient. Hope he's right! :)

11. It is even more fun when you are awake
I had cataract surgery last year (and I am only 44!). I was awake thru the whole procedure and still recall it very vividly. I remember when I was wheeled into the operating room, they had Jackson Browne's "Doctor My Eyes" playing on the CD player. My eye surgeon, what a comedian! :eyes:

13. Sending many good thoughts your way, Padraig18...
These long hours before the procedure are always the worst.

Once you get going tomorrow, it'll all go A-OK. You'll experience some discomfort, but you'll be home and taking it easy.

Hang in there, and let us know how it's going!

Best wishes to you -- :toast:

23. L:ots of good thoughts coming your way
A friend of mine had that done.
His advise...make sure you have an old fashion phone. The small hand helds are pretty useless---when you can only use one hand.
He found out the hard way. The hand held phone fell behind a radiator and he couldn't get it. By him self and out of touch with everyone for a day..everyone got nervous when we called and no answer.

Hope this relatively painless for you, and I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Besides, you get a few days off!

25. Piece of cake.................
I had the same thing done last March. They sedate you nicely, you get a good buzz, the next thing you know, you're awake and feeling fine. They'll probably use glue to close the incision, it'll be a little sore for a wekk, but really, it's nothing to worry about.
I had a spinal fusion 4 years ago, NOW THAT sucked! 6 hours on the table.
Anyway, good luck and give us a report tomorrow night. You'll be able to type don't worry.

37. But I Thought You Were Catholic... Hmm.
:hi:

I hope your surgery goes well and that there are no complications.

Does your out-patient status mean that you'll be awake and aware of what's going on? Or will you be sedated into 'twilight'?

I had an out-patient procedure (local anesthetic) for which I felt ABSOLUTELY NO PAIN at all... but even though I could not see what he had done... and simply because I "knew" what he was doing and that the incision had been made... I fainted almost immediately!

Much good karma coming your way. Rest up. And remember, it can't be much worse than going in for a vasectomy and, just before you go to sleep, having the doctor and the attending nurses point in the general area of the operation and begin giggling uncontrollably...

May you be home before the HMOs know you're gone. Sort of twist on "may you be in heaven before the Devil knows you're gone." Of, course HMOs and Devil are interchangeable.
