Here is miss_american_pie and I on top of Mt. Washington after riding the Mon Incline (aka the funicular)

From on top of Mt. Washington, the view of The Point, with Heinz Field in the background. Notice the fountain from the underground river known as "The Wisconsin Glacial Flow." Coincidence? I think not...

4. My son went to paramedic school in Pittsburgh

I could not do the incline

he rented an apartment on Louisa St.
walked to school....


the stories he could tell from a Paramedics view point....

He did LOVE the fire works on the 4th!!!

Yes, the cloud factory went along with the autographed copy of The Mysteries of Pittsburgh that she gave me.

We did the incline, went down Carson, visited Pitt, and later went to the strip for a Primanti.

and of course, went book shopping.

Will be back in September.

that's a fun bookstore. There aren't as many independents here as there used to be, sadly.


Cool, an autographed Chabon classic! Good deal. I saw his band play here once. Back then he was simply known as the singer in my friend's band! :rofl:

The long-time one down by Pitt is closed now. Guess the owner turned 80 or something... :D

We drove by a few on Carson but didn't stop. Browsed JB in the flats, but didn't buy any.

Got a whole bunch on the bargain rack out at half-price in Ross.

Picked up several nice poetry volumes, for $1 each, including an autographed one I gave to m_a_p.

41. yeah Jay's Book Stall closed. It's the end of an era.

I haven't been there in years - Michael Chabon also worked there at one time, so it could have been part of the Chabon tour!



If you had gone to Zarra's restaurant in North Oakland you could have eaten where his band once played ( probably there are a few places like that)

It's expensive, but the food is great, they have a nice patio and you can see where 100s of punk bands played in the old days (including mine!)
