I did it, I'm going to order the 14 inch iBook
The 12 inch is too small for me to type on--my hands were too cramped and ddn't feel comfortable at all--while the 14 inch model is perfect. Nice big screen, perfct keyboar layout, and unlike the eMac--which is a kickass machine with the Superdrive--I can take the iBook anywhere, anytime.

Since the eMac is $1199 (with 512 MB of RAM and the Superdrive), I can ge it later. Perhaps Christmas time. When I watch dvds and listen to iTunes on my son arriving iBook, I'll just use my iPod earphones. Besides, imagine the multiple hernias you can gt trying to carry around that 50 pound eMac :hurts:

Any iBook G4 owners here in DU?

1. No. Get the 93 inch I-Book.
No problem at all with feeling cramped.

3. I'm using it right now! Best purchase I ever made!!
It sure beats being tied down to a boat anchor! You are getting the airport, right? Definitely worth it. I can sit outside and still get a great internet connection. We also use it as a portable DVD player on car trips with the kids. Wish I could get net access while traveling in the car. Maybe some day down the road...

ENJOY!!!

8. yes yes and YES!!!
My first addition will be the iSight webcam--I can't wait to have video and audio chat, and not having to buy prepaid phone cards all the time--which is good, until the time runs out.

4. the 12" and 14" use the same keyboard
it just seems larger because of the chasis of the laptop.

7. oh I see
both models felt good typing, but the14 inch feels more natural as far as me typing for longer periods. Plus me wearing eyeglasses makes reading the smaller pixels on the 12inch model more of a task really.

5. I'm writing this using my 14" iBook

The 933 MHz model - I've had it for a month and am extremely satisfied.

Much as I love the compactness of the 12" model, my 38-year-old eyes can't bear to squint at those tiny pixels.

6. I am buying the 20" iMac in April/May
It is 15lbs lighter than eMac and I can move it around from place to place.

9. I've got the 12" iBook right now, but I am looking at getting the G4
17" laptop, which would run around $3500.00. That's a lot of money, I know, but it burns DVD's along with all the other cool stuff it does.

That will have to wait until I get my tax refund.

10. Zech Marquis, the eMac/Superdrive sells WAY below $1199
Check out Dealmac.com frequently. Here's an old link with the eMac/Super going for $888 at Small Dog. http://dealmac.com/articles/61789.html

That deal expired three weeks ago, but I've seen close to it frequently.

My Mac selections are identical, but I pursued in reverse order. Typing this on an eMac, purchased in December. It's a fantastic machine and my PC sister is incredibly jealous, even with a 2.4 GHz Compaq.

I agree completely about the 14 inch iBook, Zech. In January I was leaning heavily toward the 12 inch model until sampling both of them. The 14 jumped out as much more suited to my eyes, hands and needs. I'll be looking for a kickass deal this summer, so I can haul the iBook to Athens.

11. Yup
I got the spring 2001 g3 12" Just 4 months ago, I got a g4 14" Keyboard size is the same, isn't it? My g4 is in for repairs now so I can't tell. as I was cleaning it, as described in the manual, the front corner of the case snapped at the plastic weld They told me some bullshit about it not being covered, but I believe it will.

I also have the hinge problem with a flickering screen...I told them to check that out too.

Just had my g3 repaired out of warranty. They put in a new logic board, combo drive, and combo drive cable for 280 bucks...not too bad a deal.

Remember, the hardware is made by others, and isn't fantastic quality.

The OS os freaking flawless. I'll continue to buy apple products probably for the rest of my life (unless they don't fix my case under warranty)

get the applecare...if I had, the logic board, and combo drive would have been free, of course applecare costs a couple hundred bucks anyway.
