I know I am supposed to be conserving energy today
I have had the AC set at 82, turned off all the lights in the house and it is still like a clay oven in here. I just turned the AC to 78. I am going to have to sell my soul to pay Edison, but damn, I could not take it any longer.

1. You might try getting or using some fans
they often let you get away with higher temperatures, with out sacrificing comfort (they use very little energy, at least compared to an AC unit). Ceiling fans are the best, but even floor or other fans can be helpful.

3. AC at 82? That's not even air conditioned.
I shoot for 72.

82, might as well leave the windows open and use a fan.

5. We lucked out, a cold front just came through.
It's still humid and stormy but at least I can turn off the AC.

I really feel for you all with such high temps lately.

12. No, but the oven will be set at 375
for about an hour. :D

I have no seasonal sense when it comes to cooking. When I want lasagna, I make it!

Ooops, I told you.

:P

15. I've actually done it in a toaster oven, actually...
In a 9x9, at my parents' house, when the oven was otherwise occupied. (Holidays with my vegetarian Ex)

:)

10. It is broiling!
Edited on Tue Jul-08-08 04:33 PM by adsosletter
I thoroughly hand-watered the veggies last evening and just got back in from doing it again, 'cause the cucumbers were doing some serious wilting.

The thermometer on the garden fence (in the shade) reads 107*...

EDIT: apparently the excessive heat has compromised my ability to use spell-check... :dunce:

11. I don't even want to think about my electric bill for late June and July.
It's been over 110 degrees for many, many days... and now it's gotten humid (for us in the desert 30% is high).

Is it September yet?

16. Funny how 30% can feel like high humidity...
Our humidity is usually around 15% +/-...anything over that stats to get uncomfortable.

Now, my daughter in Philly says it has been hot, with about 70% +/- ...
