Ok... I'm back from my appts
Sorry I was so melodramatic. I'm fine. Even my stomach is fine now. I'm such a child when it comes to doctor visits. :-(

Hey. Even my bp was normal. Go figure!

I asked for anti-anxiety drugs... no luck. I got the, "I hate to prescribe them because they can be addictive" line. Sigh. Well, you can't say I didn't try... again!! lol It would be almost comical - the irony of me never getting the medication I desperately need - if I didn't suffer so much at times. Well, I must just be a good little actress... guess I missed my calling.

Anyway, I'm fine.. physically. Thanks for letting me vent. :hi:

2. My dear KC2!
I'm really glad that your appointments went well...

Just a thought...

Have you ever considered getting some counseling/therapy?

It can work wonders...I know, because I've been there...

5. Been there...
Grief counseling. Last time I told a doctor to refer me to a counselor he said - and I quote: "You don't need counseling, I can/will be your cheerleader." Oh yeah... no joke. Thanks for the recommendation. I can see (and know well how it happens) where people on DU think I'm a complete mental case.

Hugs to you too.

12. Therapy is not "cheerleading"
Sheesh! :eyes:

Obviously your doctor does not value it, but it can be extremely helpful. You don't have to be mentally ill to benefit from it- indeed, most of us could use it.

14. Agreed... most of us could
There was someone I trusted - a mental health professional - who betrayed my trust. It's been difficult to get past that. But I'm trying.

17. If you don't like your docs
fire them and get some new ones. I've had to clean house more than once, especially with my daughter's peditrician. :hi:

21. that sucks
it sucks that you can't find any good doctors there :(

but, you know, if we nationalize healthcare, we're going to screw up the whole system!! :sarcasm:

22. Honestly...
...after some of the quacks I've seen in Texas, the Allergist I saw today seems like a very brilliant doctor! And, yes, I agree about nationalized health care. It's long overdue. :hi:

23. waaaaay overdue
I had a friend ask me a while back why I didn't quit this job and start my old business back up. I told him it was because I'd have to come up with $15k a year for health coverage before I could take a dime out of the biz to live on.

That's seriously screwed up :(

25. Add To That ANY Benzodiazepene-- all can be addictive
total BS that the whole family of them aren't addictive. Thing is not everyone gets addicted to ANYTHING. Yes, there are people who smoke crack and don't get addicted, just not many, because most of the people who try it, are already well on their way to addiction.

Okay benzos:

valium
xanax
librium
ativan
serax
clonezepam

all can be very addictive... all can produce physical dependence (different from addiction) and psychic dependence (addiction)

call 'em as I see 'em

8. St. John's Wort.
The herbal remedy has worked for people who have depression. Might be worth checking out.

Results are anecdotal, because it's not an FDA regulated drug.

11. Like any drug
it's important to take it according to the directions or the Rx. If you don't, you won't build up a blood level and it won't work.

Good luck.

13. I wouldn't recommend it.
Scientific studies have shown that St. John's wart effect are at best, placebo..and mostly had no effect.
I've tried it myself actually. Lexapro is WAAAAAY superior.

..make so much money off the prescription meds that they just don't want people to use herbs? The Germans have used it for over 50 years.

15. they must have thought you exhibited "drug seeking behavior"
if you live in texas, hit a pill mill - they're usually in the "hood" and the doc visit and scrips are all cash and carry.
