Poll question: Bumper stickers
Inspired by California Peggy's generous bumper sticker offer, I just wonder how everyone here deals with this.

(The fourth choice in this is the one I'd pick if I responded to my own polls.)

1. My car is proudly emblazoned with anti * stickers.
I have already got the one that CalPeg is offering.

After the election, I will probably eliminate the * stickers since he is no longer a factor, but I may keep the "Stop Mad Cowboy Disease" one just because it makes me giggle.

2. I have: one anti-war sticker, one animal issues-related one, and one emblem from evolvefish.
I used to have more, but I was working in a very conservative suburb and kept getting pulled over, so I took everything but the emblem off, and haven't added many since I quit having to drive out to stucco hell every day.

4. I had a DU sticker on the car but it peeled off.
Haven't asked for another one to put back on. (or buy one for that matter).

I'm hesitant to get an Obama sticker on the car... I have family who were seriously saddened when Jesse Helms passed away.

Mark.

6. My dear Zavulon!
I'm really honored that I inspired you!

I do have a number of them on my car, and will very soon be putting one of the Bush's third term/McCain ones on!

The DU one is permanent, and the rest will come off after the election...

I also have the "Darwin" fish emblem, and that is also permanent...

:hi:

7. I chose the first option.
But I could also have chosen the second. I did have a "Defend America: Fire the Republicans" sticker on the CRV, but when I got my new Obama sticker from MoveOn, I traded them out. Same message, different words. We also have a DU sticker on that will stay forever.

And because my husband is a bass player, we have a "Rickenbacker" sticker that will stay permanently. All other bumper stickers go on the bass case.

:hi:

8. Other.
I had a political bumper sticker on my car and would have left it there forever, except I got a job that required I be politically neutral in public. (It was a ministry job in a politically charged environment--I had to be available to minister to everyone, not just the Dems.) Then and only then did I scrape the bumper sticker off.

But I just got my Obama sticker in the mail today, so it'll be on my car by tomorrow. :bounce:

11. Never put any on

Though I have a collection of them that I just sorta keep and have stuck some up (tape on the back, not the stickers' adhesive) in my offices when I was in graduate school and subsequently working in my academic field. Same with my Darwin fish, that dates from the early days of that icon and still has not been applied to a car or had the backing peeled off its double-sided tape. Worry about vandalism isn't the biggie, though I concede that it'd be something worth considering in this messed-up social climate; I just don't like putting stickers on my car.

EDIT: when I bought my Mercedes it had a US flag sticker on the rear bumper...took it off partly because I just didn't want a sticker and partly because, of late, US flag stickers seem more a jingoistic requirement encouraged by misguided peer-group pressure than anything real (and, besides, it wasn't even centered right, perhaps because the sticker was applied too hastily lest the car's owners be accused of being freedom-haters -- indeed, freedom-haters who bought an unpatriotic car that was assembled in Stuttgart, a city that we all know is part of Old Europe).
