4. How can one have a favorite? I love my Travis Bean
Hagstroms Swedes are very good, I have 3,each set up differently. I love the zero fret Gretsch guitars, EKO of Italy made many good axes and my Fender Strat American Standard Plus is also a fave of mine.

Looking for a 70 Gretsch Roc Jet. Would also love to get my hands on a Parker Fly.

In General I find the older axes are much better quality but there are plenty of great new instraments out there.

Havent yet owned a Gibson or a Rickenbacker but would like to.

Keep your eyes open , most likely all will be avail as I go broke and start to unload.

this is also why I am trying to get a job at Guitar Center, that way I can be around great guitars I dont own and get paid for it!

Thanks for asking!

9. I have a Hagstrom II, you wouldn't happen.......
to have an extra machine. I started to redo the guitar and somewhere along the way one of the tuning machines was lost. Can't seem to find one anywhere.

6. 1973 beat-to-hell FenderTele...
Mainly for playing slide when I gigged with a band.

Still fun for noodling around, but I spend more time on my acoustics these days.

8. Long-time Gibson fiend here
But the next cash I get, I am going Rickenbacker. I want one of them pointy bastards like Pete Townshend played in the early days of The Who.

Of course, I will be committing blasphemy along the way by having Gibson P-90 pickups installed in it, simply because they rule the known universe.

:smoke:
dbt

Oh yeah, and a Vox AC30 Top Boost, which I plan to abuse horribly.

10. You can put Gibson pickups in anything.
One of my favorite git-fiddles in my collection is a mid-'60s Silvertone that is basically a dressed-up Harmony Rocket. It's a Rocket that is 1) painted black (factory), 2) fitted with a Bigsby, and 3) equipped with Gibson humbuckers.

Frankly, one of the main reasons I collect old Harmonies is the DeArmond pickups, which are some of the hottest things you can find. But, on an archtop, they can be prone to feedback. If I want a mellow sound from one of my Harms, this is the guitar I pick up.

Of course, I voted Gretsch, 'cause you can't beat a late-'50s White Falcon.

11. Gibson Les Paul. Duh.
My brother is a guitarist; I'm a bassist; but we both agree that the LP is the tried and true. I simply don't see how Fenders are any better than Yamahas.

12. How about a Hondo
...with the nut carved out to string it left-handed?

What a POS that thing is. Of course, since I bought it for $10 at a flea market in Aberdeen in the early 90's, I harbor a secret fantasy that Cobain learned on it. :D

A Kramer I had back in my heyday... maroon.. with reverse headstock...

very low action but no rattle... I first learned to really rip on that guitar..

14. I don't really have a favorite flavor.
These days, I've been playing with a Epi SG. Kinda put my Tele aside.

I want a Schecter Pete Townshend model next.

16. Rickenbacher
I love their action but I am generally a Gibson fan but Fender strat has been growing on me. I'm such a whore about guitars.

19. You didn't say if this was electric or acoustic!
Edited on Sat Feb-21-04 03:06 PM by icymist
Whoops! excuse me...you did say if this was electric or acoustic! Please forgive me!

I started out playing a Fender Mustang. I then got, as a gift from my Mom, a '74 Telecaster. That was my favorite guitar, but it got stolen one day in '83. My friend saw how miserable I was and *gave* me an Ibenaz Les Paul Copy. Really nice guitar, but my heart was already with those wide maple necks that only a Fender could provide. In a moment of weakness, in '84, I broke down and bought a Squire Strat, which I still have to this day. Sure, the innards aren't as good as the real thing, but it still plays like cutting though butter. Acoustic, I have a Gibson Epiphone flat top. Wouldn't play any other. :)

22. I'm a bassist, but...
My all time favorite electric guitar would have to be the Gibson SG. As for bass, I love my Fender musicmaster.

24. Circa '64 Sears Silvertone
No, really. It came in a case with a built-in amplifier and I ticked off more than one person showing how easy it was to get really obnoxious feedback with that setup. My brother-in-law adjusted the nut so it had the easiest action I think I've ever played.

But if you're looking for something more contemporary, I guess it would have to be my Les Paul "Triumph" bass. The one my ex sold to someone for $300 to cover some expenses.....
