1. Cheap, no.
Depending on how far away, it may be cheaper to fly up and drive it back (if it isn't a 'trailer queen').

I had a freight broker that we did a fair amount of business with ask if I would pick up a '69 Mustang in Connecticut, and bring back to NE Ohio, for the owner of his company. He wanted it shipped in an enclosed van, as it was winter at the time.

The rate I quoted him made his teeth hurt.

2. It would cost me between $500 -$600 to fly up and drive it back.
So far, the cheapest quote is $713.

I dunno...

4. Including gas?
Depending on how far you have to drive, it could add up pretty quick.

3. remember too, that cheapest is not always the best way to go...
i shipped my little bmw 325 from boston to la. the cheapest way i could find.

the idiot that loaded my car on the carrier opened my sunroof. apparently it rained quite a bit during that trip. the car was never the same. no recourse for me. i couldn't "prove" they did that.

i'm a big fan of the "fly and drive" option too.

good luck...

5. Be careful. Get EVERYTHING in writing.
One scam they try to pull is to charge you "storage" fees for the days your shipment is "delayed".

6. I have a friend who sometimes hires on to drive a vehicle from one
point to another. He likes to travel, and this way he can go for free, and I think it's relatively inexpensive compared to some other ways to do it.

I'm sorry I can't give you more details, but you might want to google vehicle transport or something.

7. If it really is a classic, you do not want to go cheap
Go with "reliable" and get it to you in good shape!
