I never take into consideration the weather when it's time for a shower. I never saw it as a threat.

3. Do you wait until the lightning and thunder is over before you
take a shower? Someone said something at work today that made me curious.

Well, since we rarely have thunder or lightning here, it's not a consideration! :hi:

6. When I was a kid my mom told me never to do that.
Or talk on the phone either. (In the days of landlines only, of course). I have no idea if it's bullshit or not - but it stuck with me to the point where I don't do it.

15. No. I saw it on the Weather Channel. I never knew you weren't supposed to.
But they said the current from lightning can follow the copper in plumbing pipes, and is more likely to do so when there's water running in them, like when you're showering. So now I don't shower or bathe during storms. But I used to.

12. I think...it is because they are afraid of being electrocuted...
either that or it is an excuse to not bathe

16. yep, being electrocuted - it can happen, but it's rare
most water pipes can conduct electricity, so if the lightning charge somehow made a jump from whatever it hit on the house, should it hit the house, you could get toasted.

18. rare...yes. Wonder where one would go to find the statistics on it
the probabilities of this occurrence.

24. YES! Because my mom warned me against it (and talking on the Phone) I rebel!
You betcha - I may not have done drugs or stayed out all night in my rebellious youth but as soon as there is lightning I get nekkid and hop in the shower. Then I call my mom - and she always says.."no get off the phone - lightning will zap you". Sigh I live a sad and pathetic life
