Why the heck did those kids NOT burn the wooden furniture in the library? Clearly the furniture was breakable enough for them to make snow shoes out of the chair backs but you'd think that the furniture would burn longer than the books they were burning.

1. Good question
Maybe they tried and they weren't flammable enough?

What I always wondered is if the Cheney figure who played the vice president would really be so forgiving and apologetic at the end? ("We were wrong, I was wrong" or something like that...) I picture Cheney in that situation as still blaming Democrats and environmentalists...

2. But oddly enough the president looked more like Al Gore
They did a side shot of Perry King and his hair and face was a dead ringer for Al Gore. And oddly enough they killed off the Al Gore looking president and let the Dick Cheney looking VP live to regret his decisions.

I liked it. Jake is adorable and Dennis Quaid ain't half bad either.

5. Last night I had Con Air on TV
I'm still trying to figure out why they gave Cage 10-12 year sentence for essentially defending himself and his pregnant wife from 3 jackasses trying to cause trouble. I think it's bullshit he got the extra years simply because he was a former Army Ranger.

7. This weekend was bad ass weekend on the telly.
I watched Die Hard, Day after tomorrow, and some Steven Seagall thing.

Mainly because I was so full of angst on Saturday with BoyMidlo driving Mr. to Williamsburg and back, (just got his permit, :scared: ) and TM riding back from Myrtle Beach.

I was really glad when everyone was safely back in the house. Gah. Kids. They'll age you every time.

17. Yeah.
That got me, too. I liked the film for what it was, but some of the details were a bit hard to go with.

Favorite line, one that fits many circumstances: On any other day, that would seem strange.

22. Steve Buscemi and John Malkovich made that movie worth watching
<"Sweet Home Alabama" plays in background>
Garland Greene: Define irony: a bunch of idiots dancing around on a plane to a song made famous by a band that died in a plane crash.

8. My kids and I watched it last week (They are 8 and 10) We had the same objections and also
people always left the freaking door open to their haven! Anybody who has ever lived through cold weather will tell you, you don't leave the door open and let out all the heat you've built up.

9. I loved how the woman made a medical diagnosis from a book in 5 minutes
Edited on Mon Jun-23-08 10:35 AM by LynneSin
Usually it takes me a couple of hours to figure it out.

Plus, they never thought of checking the boat for food? Even if the folks on the boat were still alive they would have helped out with some food. And speaking of boat workers - where were the frozen bodies.

Plus, I swear if someone stands up and says "My dad is a climatologist for the government" I sure as hell am going to listen to him first before I buy-in to the rent-a-cop that works at the library. Plus I would have turned back after seeing the couple freeze to death.

a made-for-TV movie on a cinema movie budget. What's up with that?!

10. My question is how was it so warm in the tent
Dennis Quaid and his assistant are hiking to New York, it is freezing cold outside and people are freezing to death left and right. And then you see them in their tent and all they've got is long sleeves on, like it is an early Fall afternoon. How good is that tent?

At first glanced Delaware was to be spared but the second look at the map we were doomed

18. I noticed the same exact mistake!
Anyone who lived in the Chesapeake region had to notice that mistake. The line originally saved Southern Maryland, but then it magically moved south and froze us all.

19. Yeah the save line
cut right below me here in Prince William County VA, the first time, but in the second one it seemed to end around Alexandria.

Anyone living around here had to pick that up.

The guy who played Jake, didn't he star in Brokeback Mountain. Good looking guy.

16. Well since they left the damn door open - would it matter
Or they could have added these 2 lines:

Clueless Idiots: We should burn these tables and chairs to keep our fires warm
Smarty Pants: No the fumes & toxins on those chairs could kill us, burn the books instead!

At least, that's my theory. His movies have more holes than Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid did when they died.

30. I think that every frackin' time I see it on tv.
Hubby flips through it, but I get upset every time. All that wood, and they're burning books that won't stay lit easily and have to have a really hot fire to burn (it would be like smothering a fire with too much newspaper).

Then, Hubby usually comments that the chimney would've been blocked years ago, and then I get grumpy.

I get just as upset with Lost. Why did they never do a signal fire? Why did they never do a full survey of the island when they first got there? Why did it take them so damn long to find a water source and to figure out how to get food? Then, there's the whole over-hunting crap. Ugh.

35. For God's sake, the main character OUTRUNS COLD
I gave up at that point.

Well, that and the KFC burners stopping Dennis Quaid from freezing in the eye of a storm. Oh yeah and that the burners worked at all after the movie established that the storm causes military level fuel to freeze in a helicopter.

I hated that movie.
