Help! I need a new DSL power supply today. Where to buy one?

OK so long story short. My rabbit ate the modem's power supply cord and I have to get one on the way home or I can't go online this weekend.

Looking it up in Google didn't help. CompUSA doesn't carry them. With fingers crossed, I'm going to Radio Shack and hoping they have one.

Anyone know where to get just the cord without the modem?

I can't ask my ISP. They still have me in the billing system as a dial-up customer (they forgot to switch my acct.) and I just know if I ask them for a new cord, they'll look me up and notice I've been getting DSL virtually for free.

Help?

1. Is splicing the old one an option for you?

That's what I'd do.

Radio Shack sells a decent multi-voltage "wall pad" replacement with a variety of DC connectors for about $20. Make sure you set the voltage correctly.

2. Use a multi-adapter from Radio Shack

Just be CERTAIN that the voltage matches whatever is listed on the modem. Sometimes you'll see an exact voltage on the modem/device/whatever, and sometimes you'll see a range. You'll fry it if you don't supply it with the right voltage. Anyway, one of those multi-headed $8 Radio Shack adapters should do the trick.

7. I used to work at Mervyn's, which is Hello Kitty Central.

Micro center is mostly catalog based, i would try a Google search on it, and see what you come up with.

5. Splicing will work

Make sure the polarity is right or you could fry you modem. If you are not up to soldering you can buy small wire nuts at any hardware store. Even if there are just short peices left you can make two splices and use speaker cable to make up the difference.

The Radio Shack universal supply will fit about anything. The only thing bad about them is that if you accidentally ever set to the wrong voltage you can damage the equipment.

8. Find out the voltage

and get a universal power supply. I think they cost about $10.
And have rabbit stew for dinner...

9. Classic pet bunny story...

Ours have destroyed two mouse cords, one keyboard cord, the DSL cord, and numerous telephone cords. The late great Mimi (see avatar) was especially fond of taking down the bedroom phone with a single snip!
