Favorite 80's Video/Arcade game
Starcastle!!

Star Castle was the first arcade video game that featured on screen enemies attacking the player with an experimental form of Artificial Intelligence. It also tried to appear more advanced than it really was in terms of graphics, as it used several color overlays on the screen to make objects different colors. This actually looked good in dark arcades and game rooms but was much too obvious in locations with more lighting

Ahh, good ole 80's "technology"

IIRC, the soundtrack was the Flight of the Hawkmen theme from Flash Gordon. Classics, both.

23. You're right
I'll go sit in the corner now.

Although in my defense, the two games are quite similar (I used to play both of them a lot), and it's been almost 20 years since I've seen either one...

Dig Dug - back in the days of high tech 8 bit tech.
Tempest - Jane, stop this crazy thing!
Arkanoid - Breakout on Crack.
Sprint - race with three of your best friends.

Although it sucked that everyone else had Atari, so you couldn't join in game swapping. But I always thought Intellivision games were more fun.

Snafu was one of my favorites.

21. Star Castle rocked! I still love that game
It was one of the first video games I played, it was at the drugstore. Another favorite of mine was called "Save New York"

There was this other game that I can't remember the title at the moment, but it was a table top game, the goal was to protect fuel cells that were located in the middle of the screen. Enemy ships would try and haul your fuel cells away, and you would blast 'em before the left the playing field. Very simplistic graphics, but tons of fun.

I was reluctant to play any other arcade games more than just occasionally. However, I did like playing the Pole Position game, where you sit inside the enclosure and drive.

but I forgot about Atari. Atari owns! I'd say "Pacman" is the best game from the '80s. Donkey Kong in a very close second.

33. Did you know you can play them all on your PC? (or mac, linux, etc.)
Do a web search for "MAME". It's a free (as in beer) arcade game ROM emulator, so you can play the original arcade game software. It's great!

My favorites:

Smash TV
Galaga
1941
Black Tiger
Gals Panic
R-Type

Look into getting a Vectrex System. It is a portable video game system from 1983 that comes with its own built-in vector graphics monitor. Star Castle is just over-the-top cool on this system.

I remember little Pengo had to kick cubes of ice to smash bug eggs.

and there was another game with a clown running back and forth on a unicycle catching balls. Pac Man was in the game too and if the clown caught him, he ate all the balls. can't remember the title.

Tempest was so fast and frenetic, it didn't matter that a quarter lasted only 3 minutes at the most.
