Big Star get to work on first album in 25 years - NME
http://www.nme.com/news/107587.htm

BIG STAR are set to begin work on their fourth album - 25 years after the release of their third.

According to Billboard, original members Alex Chilton and Jody Stephens will be joined in the studio by Posies frontmen Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow, who have been part of the Big Star touring band since 1993, when they reformed for live shows.

Big Star's last release was the notoriously downbeat 'Third/SisterLovers' in 1978, recorded when the band was falling apart.

Frontman Chilton and drummer Stephens revived the moniker after the likes of REM and Teenage Fanclub cited them as a massive influence.

-It'll be interesting, but they'll miss Chris Bell. Still, Sister Lovers is genius, so you never know.

1. Alex Chilton is such an incredible musician and
all-around interesting guy. I've seen him play in several small clubs in Memphis in the late 1970's and, in that sort of intimate setting, he was flawless. He even came and sat with our table and had a beer during a couple of breaks (one of my friends is a guitarist he knows).

That was around the time he played with Tav Falco and Panther Burns.

I'm thrilled that Big Star is back! Thanks for making my weekend!
