just read til they can sling the lingo, get the jokes. And then appear as if they've been here forever. I did it. Lots of people do it.

I still do it if I'm gone for awhile - what's the current joke? Who is friends with whom? Who's new and interesting? What's going on with people? What are they talking about? I need to know before I jump in.
