thank you, lounge lizards!
Thanks to those of you who sent along your kind thoughts and good vibes and who talk ppl down from the anxiety celiing.

For anyone who remembers, I was obsessing about a job interview and feared I wasn't qualified, etc. Well, I had my 2nd interview and the things I was worried about weren't things to worry about... they have nothing to do with the actual job. I won't know anything about phase 3 of an interview until the end of the month, but I'm happy to report it seems things went well. we'll see.

there are good and bad aspects to the job (as in every job, obviously).

now I wonder, if by some good fortune I were offered the job, but then got a better offer elsewhere later... even if they aren't the same job, could you, or generally would you ask the place you accepted a job to match or offer something equivalent? Or would they hate you and then you'd have to take the other job, even if you like the location of the first one more, but think the salary could be better considering the location and the skills you bring to the job?

I suppose it's obvious I haven't done a lot of this "real job" job hunting stuff for a while.

2. after my interview today
I felt nauseated, got shaky, was weak in the knees and had a really bad headache.

so, no. no anxiety here. :/

I didn't feel that way during the interview, however. I really hate being this weird. I wasn't like this before... or at least not to this point. I always had stage fright, but I was okay in real life.

I worked on deep breathing and just letting myself relax. I didn't realize that my whole body was tense. then I soaked in a bathtub to help relax and try to get rid of the headache and then fell asleep - b/c I was up until after 3 last night - not worrying about the interview, exactly.

when I think about the act of moving, I start feeling sick to my stomach again.

4. It's good that you felt okay during the interview.
I hope it went well.

Please try not to overanalyze how the interview went. I know that may be an impossible request, but worrying won't change what happens.

3. The Lounge seems to be doing this a lot lately
If they offer you the job and someone else offers better pay - there is nothing wrong with going and asking for a better wage. Maybe they can't match it, but they may be able to offer other stuff- good health insurance, a good pension plan, enjoyable working conditions.

Khash.

5. a lot of what?
looking for a job?

getting so anxious it makes you sick?

wondering whether I should ask for more at a job I think I'd like, but I've got other apps out and some of the deadlines for those jobs might be later than the one for this job...

or all of the above?

6. All of the above
People have been talking about job-hunting a lot. Bad economy. Do I take the job I like or the the one that pays better? Being self-employed as a writer I have different problems. I was just pointing out that a lot of people here are facing the same thing. I didn't mean to be mean - just that lots of people here have been talking about it cuz they're in the same place.

I know when I write something I freak out about where I can sell it or if I can sell it.

Good huntin',
Khash.

7. no prob
I used to do freelance writing but I hated to "sell myself" so I decided to do something else. I like to write, to do research about various things, but I hate to ask anyone for money in any way. I was a writer-for-hire on some things, a staff writer for a while and had a regular but freelance gig - worked in diff. media, too. had an emerging artist's grant about a decade ago... seems like three lifetimes ago now.

but, yeah, I've seen a lot of job hunting going on in the lounge too. I changed direction, went back to school and got a masters and now I'm looking for jobs in that area.

I have a lot of anxiety about all this b/c I have a son who is high-functioning autistic and it really stresses me out to think about moving away from where he lives. He can't drive b/c of his stuff and he's naive about people. but he has to make his own mistakes and all that. He's going to live in a dorm in the fall. His dad will still be here, which is good for my son, but that has nothing to do with me anymore.

I've now lived in the same place for most all of my adult life and it's hard to move. It's especially hard to leave my two sons here and move somewhere else.

8. Hi
I was pretty sure you were qualified for that job..but its good to know...If you have interviews that are going on, you should let them know about it if/when they offer you a position...that helps in getting a better salary if they know they are in competition.
