2. Yes, I saw that picture.
Shoulder-length. I think it was some kind of "Granpa Walton" thing going on.

3. Yes, he grew his hair long
I remember he did an interview, I think it was on 60 Minutes, a few years after he left office, 1971 or 72,and he had grown his hair out to about shoulder length.

5. Saw in in Austin at a UT football game. His hair was about shoulder length.
This was around 1970 or 1971,way back when the Longhorns were winning National Championships.

6. Yep, LBJ had a conscience - wanted to be FDR.
It didn't work for him. What a tragic figure. His civil rights work was outstanding, as was his advocacy for social programs. But, Vietnam cannot be glossed over. Ever. Forgive me, but it's hippie, not hippy. Believe me, I know.

7. sorry...i shall never misspell hippie again!
And yes, it was tragic...but Johnson could take solace in that he never secretly bombed Cambodia, Laos and Thailand, or bombed the f**k out of Hanoi.

9. He did grow his hair...
... and there is little question that he, in his waning years, identified with the hippies he so opposed in their opposition to the war.

LBJ was a perfect mirror of how life really is - everything has a dual nature and nobody is all good or all bad.
