Does anyone else out there just love Montreal!
We are sitting here, my husband and I, reminiscing about Montreal. What a wonderful, magical place it is. I miss it so. Le Jardin de Nelson, the fireworks festival, just the city itself. The Unibroue beers. It is heaven.

1. I have been to Montreal just once and it was a brief stay.
It was in college when I lived in Burlington, VT. A group of us "east coast Oakland A's fans" went up for an A's v. Expo game.

I remember the city being beautiful and the people being very friendly. I was enamoured with the bilingual french/english atmoshpere. I remember ordering a beer in french and they understood me! I hadn't taken french since HS. It truly was an amazing city, what I saw of it those 2 days.

2. Yes - setting a cafe with the large glass window watching folks - or
shopping underground.

It is a great place!

3. I love Montreal!

I've only been there twice, but I took in as much as I could. I was there with my boyfriend (at the time). One year we did more touristy things: Notre Dame, the biodome, Insectarium (at his insistence--he just had to see the Madagascar hissing cockroaches), Le Musee des Beaux Artes.

The next year, we pretty much rocked out: Aerosmith happened to be playing at the Montreal Forum, which I'd always wanted to go to, and we also went to some pretty cool rock clubs. One infamous one was called Les Foufounes Electriques (The Electric Buttocks). (I bought one of their T-shirts.)

We also went to the Little Italy section, where I think they spoke French and Italian (and not English). I ordered a cannoli. The woman there proceeded to tell me a long story, probably a rant, in a language that was not English, and I just smiled and nodded, so she had no idea that I didn't know what the heck she was talking about. I also remember how porno shops were mixed right in between regular businesses, and one of them was large and had shopping carts for customers to use.

Thanks for reminding me of my trips there; a lot of good memories. I'd love to go there again.

6. Love - but I love Quebec City even more
Only thing about that damn Quebec City is it's way to easy to fall in love in.

8. Slight brag...
One of my ancestors was a syndic and helped to found Montreal back in the 1600s.

If you are ever there and see a place named after Urbain Baudreau de Gravelines, he was my...uh....like 7th great grandfather.

9. Moi!!!
I do for sure!

I'll miss the Formula 1 race there this year. :(

I've been there for many of those race weekends. I love that city. I'm trying to convince my husband that we should go there and Quebec City for our anniversary this summer.
