1. Not Big Brown
I think his injury affected him more than his owner/trainer/whoever that guy was, was letting on.

Maybe the Patriots! :bounce:

Yeah GIANTS! :bounce: SB42 champions! :bounce:

20. He was fine, he just wasn't much of a horse to start with.
None of this year's crop of 3-year olds is.

9. '64 Phillies
Six and a half up with 12 left, you print the Series tickets.

They lost 10 straight and finished tied for second.

16. I had a history professor two years ago
Who wrote a book about the '64 Phillies. The subtitle was "The story of baseball's most memorable collapse."

10. No because an athlete has to be a human being
Hence Big Brown doesn't qualify for a sports choke.

15. no choke
Edited on Sat Jun-07-08 06:36 PM by lost-in-nj
that horse should not have run

an injured hoof is nothing like a broken fingernail

the jockey saved him from being lame

he has no say in whether or not the horse should run

but he knows the horses stride and gait

and felt something was wrong

I commend the jockey

lost

19. Actually no
The jockey and the trainer have both said the horse is not lame and the problem WAS not the cracked hoof.
Apparantly-the race horse owners on this board think the horse lacked conditioning. I was told that the winner of the Belmont a few years back Touch Gold had hoofs in worse shape.
BB was just tired.

23. Horses run with cracked quarter hooves all the time. And win.
Touch Gold won the Belmont with hooves worse than Big Brown's.

The horse lacked the proper conditioning because of the lack of training due to the injury.

I do wish people would search for posts by "Old Broad" when it comes to horse racing. She is a thoroughbred trainer. She knows her stuff.

18. Yankees Dropping 4 in a row in the ALCS to Boston was great
But for my money the greatest choke in sports history was Tyson on Holyfield's ear.
