House is sooooo unrealistic
Edited on Sat Jun-07-08 02:40 PM by UndertheOcean
I watched an episode on USA yesterday that was so unbelievable , I just kept laughing to the dismay of a house fan friend.

This is what I got through the laughs , this woman doctor , goes to pick up House from a bar , after he gets pissed , she has a drink , she got the flu , maybe , then she takes 2 pills of some medicine , and somehow , its bye bye for her , her heart beats so fast they have to "stop" it , she goes on a bypass machine , she then suffers renal and liver failure , her boyfriend doctor wakes her up just to tell her that she is going to croak , nice move ! .

But wait , thats the mystery , see , House was so drunk he blanked out , so how does the team discover what happens ? They do a deep brain stimulation on him (probes in the brain , I laughed so hard at this part) to help him get his memory back , he goes into a seizure and almost dies , too bad he survives ...

Who watches this horseshit...

1. actually most ot the science depicted in House is pretty accurate
And there are a lot of us who enjoy this show and don't consider it horseshit.
Lot of stuff goes on in the medical world that seems unbeleivable to lay people.

5. don't know about that particular case

I'm sure the portrayal was a little distorted but they do base their scenarios on actual science

7. I know that the science is correct , Its just those things don't happen in the real medical world
Most with mystery ailments have to wait until their autopsy , thats when the doctors discover what happened , if they were lucky

6. What's unrealistic
is that a doctor like House would stay employed by a hospital for more than a day or two. It's an entertaining show, though.

9. Was there ever a medical drama that *was* realistic?
Forty years ago, "Medical Center" episodes adhered to a theme: An injury or illness results in an ethical or medical dilemma, accompanied by much wringing of hands and dramatic music, ending up with Dr. Gannon doing the Right Thing, against the odds.

Sounds familiar, huh?

To be fair, though, "Medical Center" did take a chisel to at least one wall, with an episode about a guy (played by Robert Reed, aka Mike Brady) who wanted gender-reassignment surgery.

10. If I had a friend who loved a show
and I watched an episode that was unbelievable, I wouldn't laugh in my friends face.

Who watches this horseshit? Obviously your former friend.

13. They mysteries on House are so complicated it is hard to figure out. Twists and turns.
Not like with most movies where you can figure out the mystery before you are half-way through.

I've just started watching House and saw that show. I had no idea why her colleagues were being so mean to her, except for her lover. Then I found out she was a real *****. Liked the show even more after I found that out.

Of course it is ridiculous. That is why it is so entertaining.
