How come lots of women are always 5 foot 6 around me?

I'm petite (maybe about 4 ft 11, 5 ft at the most?) yet some women I know who are maybe just an inch or two taller than me always seem to be 5 foot 6?


It's weird, I don't mind being short (I like me, not going to fight my body, bigger fish to fry) but nobody wants to admit they are just as tiny as I am. Weird. I "always" have to be the smallest woman out there. :eyes:

And I usually wear flat shoes. I'm not going to wear 3 or 4 inch heels to appear taller. It's not who I am.

How come 80% of the male population is exactly six feet tall?

I've seen guys no taller than 5'9" claim to be six feet tall. It's absurd.

Bush, BTW, claims to be exactly six feet tall. Everyone I know who has seen him in person says that's bullshit. My best friend is exactly 5'10" and met him once; says they were eye-to-eye.

I've found that as a general rule, any guy who claims to be exactly 6' is really 5'10 or 5'11.

11. It's people in your situation that I feel for, in a way.

Claiming you're exactly six feet tall is like signing into a hotel when your name is John Smith. YOU know you're telling the truth and strangers shouldn't have a reason to automatically assume you're lying, but they do anyway.

I remember the first time I was measured at exactly 72". My father told me to keep telling people I was 5'11" so that nobody would think I was full of shit. I grew a couple inches past that, but until I was a clear 6'1" I kept telling people I was 5'11".

In Europe, the same standard is 180 cm, so it appears we're more demanding.

kind of like how some people (myself included) might lie about their weight on their driver's license.

i've had the same weight on my license since i was 16, even thought i was nowhere near that weight for most of the past 11 years. i'm finally back down to that weight, but i didn't want to admit how large i was, so i never bothered changing it, even thought i've had to renew or replace my license a few times since then.

In high school, I got teased by the boys, and drafted by the coach to play basketball for the team.

Now, little old ladies wave me down in stores to get things off shelves for them.

I guess my height works for me and against me, depending on the situation.
