My left hand hurts
Been practicing the guitar two hours daily for the past 3 weeks.

I can read and play single line melodies (notation , I hate TABS), I'd say adequately , I mean I am noticing daily improvement in speed and accuracy.

My problem right now is with counterpoint , I try to do everything right while stretching my hand to chord positions, but it hurts , and I have to rest it every couple of tries. It seems that some chords require stretching that is not physically possible.

I don't want to just finger pick melodies, I really want to take off with this thing.

will my left hand stretch more easily with practice? , or maybe simply I don't have the right hand type?

3. I wish I had some advice.
I'm a piano player myself, but I know how tired the hands and fingers can get. Guitar seems more difficult holding the strings down.

2. Beatles songs are good for learning basic chords, and getting your hands used to 'em.

Don't worry about 'hand type', I've got short, fat, stubby fingers and I do just fine. :)

5. You're using muscles that you're not used to using in ways you're not used to using them
not to mention the friction of the strings against the skin... if you WEREN'T sore I'd be worried. :P
