Who sings in your register?
Edited on Tue Jul-08-03 09:35 PM by blondeatlast
When I went to pick up my son, "Love Come Down" by Evelyn "Champagne" King came on, and of course I chimed in (summer AZ means windows UP!).

Damned if she doesn't have a great voice . . .

On edit: thanks UDL--again.

2. Dunno, only Zevon and that Crash Test Dummies guy sing in my register
so I can't get picky enough to worry about keys. (Generally, my key is "off-")

...a gravel truck with a bad clutch and worn brakes.

But, alone, in my car, I sound JUST LIKE whomever is singing! :7

14. All those baritones
Iggy, Reed, Bowie, Morrison, McCulloch, Curtis, Cash, Cale (I can even do them from different periods in their careers) Surprisingly enough, Ian Curtis is the most difficult (he had this tendency to go flat at the end of a line)

15. Jim Morrison, Leonard Cohen and Brad Roberts (of the Crash Test
Dummies). As you've probably guessed, I'm a baritone, too. It's a lot of fun singing like Morrison. Sometimes I'll sing "The Soft Parade" to see how low I can get. "The man is...at...the ...dooooooooooooooor!"

:D

16. Oddly enough
Or coincidentally, my voice is damn near identical to Morrissey's. That, I suppose, is why I really like the Smiths. I learned all those songs because they were the only ones that sounded good when I sang them.

17. Ever heard anyone playing a saw?
Only dogs can hear my singing voice. Some call it lyric soprano. Others say, "What the hell is that shrieking?"

27. Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole...
and I'm a woman!

I have a very low singing voice for a woman -- when doing chorus/choral work I usually end up singing tenor. When I was a young girl I sang second soprano but puberty hit and I was suddenly sounding like Maude.

Performing major roles in musicals became almost impossible for me -- they just don't make many roles for women with low voices. I looked like the perfect ingenue but sang like the male lead. :) (I do a mean Tony in "West Side Story"!)
