Anyone Know What Dental "Root Lengthening" Is?

My dentist has proposed it as a method to enable a crown to be placed on a tooth broken off too close to the bone (after a root canal of course).

I sit here, chipmunk cheeked, hoping someone knows something about this procedure.

Is there a clinical term for it? Google doesn't really have anything under the search "root lengthening."

Time to take another Vicodin.

3. i had it done

a few months ago. it's a short procedure and it didn't hurt as much as the root canal itself. my insurance wouldn't pay for it though. Cost me $600. it's cool though... i didn't really want to go on a nice week-long vacation to somewhere tropical this year.
