Poll question: Favorite TALKING HEADS tune
I actually took nominations for this (and the Steely Dan one). It was in the middle of the night, though, so I'm still largely left to my own devices. They have about 10 times too many good songs for a poll of this size, so don't think I'll be surprised or upset when Other wins.

Left off Life During Wartime 'cause I don't really like it and as usual am drunk with power. Left off Take Me To The River as it's a Rev. Al cover (no, not THAT Rev. Al!).

"Our President's crazy/Did you hear what he said?" Hmm, some things never change.

'Stay Up Late' always makes me smile.

32. I second "Big Country"
I see the shapes
I remember from maps.
I see the shoreline
I see the whitecaps
Baseball diamond
Nice weather down there!
something something something
And the houses where the kids are.

Thanks for that earworm, RationalRose! :)

Ce que j'ai fait, ce soir la.
Ce qu'elle a dit, ce soir la.
Realisant, mon espoir,
Je me lance vers la gloire.
We are vain and we are blind,
I hate people when they're not polite!

Psycho killer, qu'est que c'est,
Far better.
Run run run run, run run run away!

23. This is the Place
..or Artists Only, or Life During Wartime. The latter because we played this in my old band and I sang it, because I was the only one who could remember the words.

24. "Love (Goes to) Building On Fire"
But the whole first side of "Remain In Light" is primal/funk/rythmn genius.

What a great, great band. I sometimes see David Byrne walking in my neighborhood. He lives nearby, I guess. I leave him alone. Hell, what am I gonna say? "Hey David! Dude, you rock! You're the best!"
"Uh, thank you..."
"Dude, when ya gonna get the BAND back together?"
"Uh, I have to go now..."

Still, I'd love to see a reunion.

25. I met Adrian Belew when he was touring with the Heads
He was coming out of the giftshop of the Oshawa Holiday Inn. We had seen him play solo, so we rushed up to him to say hi. He told us he had joined the Heads to record on Remain in Light. We were too humbled to go talk to the rest of the band at the other end of the lobby.

Way cool.

27. I had to pick Making Flippy Floppy
because no one had voted for it yet, and it's one song that can get me going in the day when nothing else can.

But it's hard to pick just one song. They are my number 1 all-time favorite band. I got to see David Byrne in DC at Wolftrap, and it was one of the best shows, ever.

30. Air
Air...Air
Hit me in the face
I run faster
Faster into the air
(I say to myself)
What is happening to my skin?
Where is that protection that I needed?
Air can hurt you too
Air can hurt you too
Some people say not to worry about the air
Some people never had experience with...

Air...Air
It can break your heart
So remember when the weather gets rough
(You'll say to yourself)
What is happening to my skin?
Where is that protection that I needed?
Air can hurt you too
Air can hurt you too
Some people say not to worry about the air
Some people don't know shit about the...
Air...
