20. So did I
My first thought--OMG so all of us in the '80s were terra-ists?!!!11? Geez Louise, where would all the New Wave bands have been without those scarves?

Day-um, when my theater class went to London in '86, we bought them in bulk from every street vendor from Camden Town to Oxford Circus. Hee--and that reminds me of one guy in our group who was rather "swarthy" (I have no idea if he was of Middle Eastern descent and don't really care)--olive skin, black hair, close-cropped beard and mustache--and wore one of those scarves the entire time. If he traveled today looking like that, he'd have never been allowed on the plane.

Shit, who ever thought that the Cold War years would be the GOOD OLD DAYS?

3. I agree with Michelle on this one
‘‘It’s refreshing to see an American company show sensitivity to the concerns of Americans opposed to Islamic jihad and its apologists.’’

Too many American companies cave to the Islamic jihad and its apologists. It's about time someone stood up to them.

:puke:

11. Don't gargle with Drano yet, but, yeah
If Dunkin Donuts had refused to yeild to that racist right-wing crap I'd have went out and bought a dozen donuts. But now, forget it, man.

15. It's hard to see the narrow thread of irony in this story, but I've managed to find it.
Edited on Wed May-28-08 02:40 PM by Bucky
For, you see, our schizophrenic culture that loves both ridiculously rail-thin women and delicious fattening donuts has brought you this perfect storm of consumero-terroristic irony. We love food and so we love Rachael Ray, who brings us food, mmmmm yummo food, like donuts. But we want our women skinny, so while you can look-but-don't-touch Rachael Ray, she can only look-but-don't-touch those yummo donuts. And thus to reinforce the fact that women must conform to bizarre notions of acceptable body images, corporate America has decreed that Rachael Ray wear a scarf to cover up her big ol' wobbly turkey neck.

Unfortunately this is the same corporate America that determined that we should invade the Middle East so that we can control the world's remaining deposits of Bavarian creme ore, found only in Iraq (and of course in Bavaria, which we've been occupying since 1945!) Only in pursuit of control of the world's dwindling Bavarian creme reserves, we've gain the ire of the Arabic street, for whom Bavarian creme is halal, or blessed sustainence from Heaven.

Oh, what a tangled web we weave...
