What words do you instinctively misspell?
Two come off the top of my head:

Congratulations = I always want to spell it Congradulations

Restaurant = I always want to spell it Restaraunt

21. Mispronounce it to spell it correctly.
ano-NYM-ous. syno-NYM-ous. I've been pruposely mispronouncing words in my head to spell them correctly ever since early grade school. Totally works.

Can't help ya with "rhythm", though. I get that one wrong, too.

26. That would help if I remembered how to spell it enough to mispronounce it.
I will be flying along, typing 60 wpm, and screech to halt, muttering "anoNYMous, anoNAMous, anoNIMous..."

I won a county spelling bee in 6th grade! Then again, that was in Mississippi (which is easy to spell but hard to type without counting syllables). Nothing over three letters. You know, God, gun, USA, dog, cat... Okay not really.

3. I misspelled 'misspell' in the 8th grade spelling bee
in front of the whole school. I stopped in the middle of the word to think about whether there was one s or two... and I ended up giving it three.

19. 'judgment,' 'acknowledgment' and the like
I wanna put the 'e' in there because without it, the 'g' looks hard, as in "Gah!" and that'd be a very awkward pronunciation.

Webster says "judgement" et al are alternative spellings, but a lotta people can't accept those.

The first thing I do when being assigned to a new workstation or when buying a new computer is to add that typo to my spell check.

It seems to be that the abbreviation for "until" should be "til" - but it's "till". Which to me, is a check-out in a British retail shop.

45. There are a couple that I tend to spell
the British way, with an "s" or a "c" instead, like organisation, realise, and defence, other such.

I also almost always spell judgement with the 2 "e"s, but again, it's a variant, and it's allowed. I had one person insist I was spelling it wrong, but a look into a dictionary proved I was right as well.

Here in New England, there are some words which are spelled the British way anyhow, like centre, theatre, and the "re" instead of an "er" way.

For a long time, I spelled "development" "developement" though. Not anymore.
