Europe trip question-If you had to choose between London and Rome...
Which would you choose? I'm planning a trip in August but I can't decide. Unfortunately, I don't have enough time for both. I'm leaning towards London because I've never been there, whereas I have been to Rome. On the other hand, I have family in Italy and I would like to see them. I need to make up my mind soon, I'm running out of time.

2. London is my first choice, too
There have been an enormous amount of changes since I was there, 16 years ago. While they both are historical cities, I think London might provide you with some great choices, depending on what you want out of a vacation. When my mom and I went, museums were big on our itinerary, so we saw what we could with the premise we'd get back there, which we haven't since.

Rome is a lovely city, too, and it's got a lot of history, too, but not as much as London has now. But the ruins are great, and the food should be fantastic.

Have you considered Luxor or the Valley of the Kings in Egypt? :)

8. It's one of the best things about travel
I'm going to have to be somewhat frugal about food in Europe though... :)

7. Have you been to Egypt?
There are very few places I wouldn't be interested in seeing if I had the time and money... :) It's going to be a short trip, so I want to focus on one city and maybe make a day trip out. It will be easier in Italy because I have a lot of family there and places to stay. But visiting them leaves less time for sightseeing and I don't think they'll want to go to museums etc. with me. I'm mostly interested in walking around a lot and seeing historical sites.

11. No, but I want to!
A friend used to make an annual trip there. It's fascinating to me, though. I, too, would go almost anywhere if the prospect of looking at history up close and personal was good. A high school friend, interestingly, met her future husband (they've been married now for a lot of years) on a dig at or near Stonehenge.

12. I'd go to Rome. The culture there is so amazing to take in. While in
London it is just more of the same. The food in Italy is amazing. Plus there are all sorts of really ancient artifacts to take in in Rome.
