A WEEK before the United States release of Mel Gibson's controversial movie, The Passion of the Christ, the filmmaker's father has repeated claims the Holocaust was exaggerated.

Hutton Gibson's comments, made in a telephone interview with New York radio talk show host Steve Feuerstein, come at an awkward time for the actor-director who has been trying to deflect criticism from Jewish groups that his film might inflame anti-Semitic sentiment.

In his interview on WSNR radio's Speak Your Piece, to be broadcast on Monday, Hutton Gibson, argued that many European Jews counted as death camp victims of the Nazi regime had in fact fled to countries like Australia and the United States.

Face it, religious movies flop because the material is so stale.

That's why religious film-makers put gimmicks into them, to stir up controversy and get publicity.

With "Last Temptation Of Christ," the movie was so pretentious and simply :boring: that a gratuitous sex scene was thrown in.

With Mel's ego-fest movie, it's lots of violence, including, (according to one account,) a beating that goes on for 45 minutes.

He's such a joke anyway ... I never see his movies until they "happen" to come on Showtime, and then MOST of the time I don't bother.

Certainly NOT gonna go see this ego BS drivel.

He's a homophobe, which is MOSTLY why I don't see his movies (at the theater, or on PPV anyway). He's a freaking ACTOR - in other words he LIES WELL (for a living).

And not ALL religious movies suck, I rather liked Dogma ;)
