Need quick cooking help: I don't have breadcrumbs for meatloaf
Thought I did, but I don't. :-(

What can I use as an alternative? Flour? Bisquick?

I don't have a lot of choices here.

18. In all honesty, those golden grahams would taste good in a meatloaf
as long as you compensated for the sweetness by not including anything else sweet.

I can't remember the last time I peeled a potato on my own, though.

Hmmm... I made diced unpeeled potatoes coated in onion-soup mix a few times since the separation (3 years ago), but actually peeling and cooking them?

I have no idea.


I need a woman that I can cook with.

(take that how you may) :-)


I could have put come tater-tots in the meatloaf, I guess. I have a bag of those! :rofl:

Yankee. My mother never made a meatloaf with crumbs. She always used torn bread. Half the time her meatballs were made with bits of bread rather than crumbs too...:hi:

21. Yeah, just toast it and toss it in the blender.
I don't keep breadcrums around, they're overpriced and doing it that way is an easy way to use up bread heels, which I won't eat because I'm spoiled.

25. Update: 4 slices of "Home Pride Wheat" were toasted and crumbled
Meatloaf is now baking, along with a box of au graten potatoes that expired 14 months ago.

Scarily, it wasn't the oldest thing in my pantry. I think I have stuff that date from by pre-separation days!

I will update on how it turns out. Might even include a picture for your viewing pleasure.



Thanks for the help, guys. I think of the bread so much for my work sandwiches I didn't even think of using it!

A few years ago I found stuff in my parents' cupboard that they bought before they moved into their new house - in 1989. I bet there are still some things from that vintage in there.

Uncooked , yes. I don't know what measure I use, I do it more by feel. Too much isn't good.

Jyoti Bihanga vegetarian restaurant in San Diego makes a "Neatloaf," and it's better than any meatloaf with meat you've ever had. I have no idea what combinations of seasonings they use, but it has an irresistible flavor, and the tangy barbecue sauce on top makes it heavenly. The recipe is secret, but I did talk to the chef once about it and he told me one of the ingredients is Special K cereal - which gives it an interesting, slightly crunchy texture.

Meatloaf in this house consists of hamburger, a chopped up onion, and pepper - no other additives. Yeah, it's just baked hamburger, but the dogs don't mind.
