Does baseball have to occupy the entire bloody year? Winter meetings, hot stove leagues, spring training, the interminable 8,342 game season....

Give it a rest, please? Let basketball have at least a couple of months to itself. We have to deal with football the first half of the season, then the baseball thing starts up.

6. The funniest series of segments on TV last night

Bill Maher was on some channel saying that we must live pretty boring lives (ie no problems with war/terrorists) if we focus on issues such Janet's Breast.

He was dissing the media for hyping celebrity stories over war and economy.

They wrapped up that segment then said "next, the biggest trade in Baseball ever!"

Now if that is a not ignoring the warnings of your guest. . .

Baseball is WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY too long. How about a nice simple 20 week season? They could start in mid summer and wrap up in Oct.

Actually, they can have as long a season as they want... as long as they don't pre-empt anything I like to watch :)

13. I'd be willing to give it a rest if it weren't for

the never-ending March Madness hype that begins in November, Lakers riots, the guy the Blazers traded & Iverson & others being thugs, and the fact that NBA basketball is little more than guys duking it out in a tiny arena with no finesse, no defense, bad manners, tempers flaring, ugly, ugly behavior on court and off . . . .

Basketball. Ugh.

No defense? The biggest complaint of the past two years has been too much defense. Not watching much lately?

No more Lakers riots, since they won't be winning another championship for a long, long time.

And the current NBA champions, the Spurs, are actually one of the classiest franchises in sports. Don't get distracted by the thugs. There's some real beauty there, as well.

At least our guys aren't juicing it up.

Nope. I don't watch NBA at all. IMO it completely sucks. I guess I didn't make that clear in my earlier post.

But I'm sure you enjoy it -- more power to ya! I'll stick to my baseball.

(BTW I do enjoy basketball a great deal. Women's collegiate basketball.)
