Carpenter ready for THE THING 2?
According to a report on Counting Down, director John Carpenter has a script ready for THE THING 2. Carpenter reportedly told the magazine SFX the news, which was then forwarded by a reader to the website. The reason for Carpenter's interest in making a sequel to his 1982 film apparently stems from the success of THE THING video game released two years ago.

3. I saw that. That would be great. It did sort of leave you hangin' there...
..at the end. There was two of them left, McCready and the black guy. Is one of them 'a thing'? With Freddie/Jason, Texas Chainsaw, Dawn of the Dead,... hardcore horror has seemed to make a comeback, which makes me very happy. I despise these psychological PG-13, Ringu, Sixth Sense type horror movies. There ok every now and then, but I like the blood and guts, violent, swearing, slashing, guns blazin' type of horror...and a little nudity too is nice. Boobies! :-) Anyhow, I hope this story is true

4. The video game was actually...freaky.
In a good way. They did a good job making you uneasy, especially when your teammates were freaking out and you can't figure out why.
The movie also freaked me out...loved it, especially the ending.

6. I love both versions
The Howard Hawks original is fantastic (and noted for being one the first films to use overlapping dialogue).I had serious doubts about the Carpenter remake but those were swept away because the movie was excellent, and stuck to the book "Who Goes There" far more than the original (understandable considering the effects capabilities of the time...1956).

If he does make a sequel it will have a tough time living up to both earlier versions, but I'd be more than curious to see it.
