HOLY CARP - A Florida Seminole baseball player....
He played all 9 positions in a seven inning game, and he also hit a GSHR in the same game...

:wow:

1. To say that he had a good game would be a *bit* of an understatement
:)

3. And the game was shortened by the 10 run rule!
Geebus. He will probably never be able to top that.

But wow, anyway.

But without the slam.

4. Brings "utility player" to an entirely new level
Is there such a thing as an "everyday utility player"?

5. Depends
If you've got an infield like Garvey, Lopes, Russell and Cey, then... no. Guys died tryin' to crack that. Billy Grabarkewitz ended up moving to the outfield — which was good, since his name didn't fit at shortstop.

But if you were a utility infielder with the Giants in the '70s, you played 156 games and they had a back-up for you for the other six. :D

Oh — the Dodgers put Furcal on the 15-day DL today. x(

6. Oh noes!
x(

LNP (Little Nick Punto) is on our DL - Not really the same impact as a Rafael Furcal though. But I love watching LNP run around the bases.

9. It may not be disastrous
I figure there's two ways they can go — put Garciaparra at third full-time and move DeWitt to short. More likely, they'll move Hu to short (it's his natural position) and try to squeeze full-time out of Kent.

Or... the report says they're gonna try to buy a third baseman named Luis Maza from Las Vegas, where he's hitting .402 with an OPS of .992. (Vegas also has a guy named Terry Tiffee who's hitting .430 witn an OPS of 1.092. Of course, it is the PCL.)

Still, losing that lead-off bat for two weeks is gonna suck. x(

10. I liked Terry Tiffee!
Sounds like he is tearing up the PCL!

The Twins have needed a good leadoff batter for years. Seems like we may now actually have a good one in Carlos Gomez. Man, he is fun to watch. He hit a homer the other day and actually sprinted around the bases instead of that plodding jog everyone else does.

7. He's great at multitasking, isn't he?
:wow: That has to be a record of some kind.

8. I am sure it has happened before perhaps without the granny.
but I am sure it happens about as often as an when someone turns an unassisted triple play and someone else hits for the cycle within the same 7 day period.
