Who's up? And what is keeping you up?

I'm just normally up late, and about to eat a HUGE Subway sandwich before I go to bed. Steak and cheese, toasted, with LOTS of trimmings. YUM!!!!

5. It's 12:45 here, and I'm especially pooped today too.
I went to my once a week trip to the wimmins bar last night, and I'm especially worn to death with the drama and stupidity. It just never ends. *sigh*

How's your baby girl doing?

10. Her foot is good
The bruise is finally fading.

She is fighting off a cold, the poor dear.

Thanks for asking.

2. You KNOW I'm up!
I'm doing laundry, writing some poetry, and revising some other pieces...

And of course, DUing!

Your sandwich sounds wonderful!

Enjoy, and may it not bring any interesting dreams...

12. Waiting for the parts
Not going to do the MIL thing - she is kind of weird, and I kind of don't want her in this part of our business.

I will be hitting the laundromat probably Wednesday.

It just wasn't worth it to get mom involved.

Watched Cloverfield with my girlfriend a little while ago, then played some F.E.A.R. and now I am perusing DeviantArt for inspiration or something.

13. I've turned into a vampire, I think...
I can't fall asleep before 2-3am any more. I'm ok with it, I have classes at night and usually don't have to be in to work until 1pm. Now I'm done with work and have a month until summer classes begin, so I have literally nothing to do but stay up late and mess around on DU

26. Oh, it's a dynamite sandwich!
A cheese and steak toasted with provolone cheese. And garnished with plenty of lettuce, onion, tomato, black olives, and jalapenos. With a healthy dose of vinegar and oil!

I think I am going to drool. *slurp*

27. I shudder to even think about pre-season
Basically I gotta get myself a full time job for the fall (at some point this summer) and most contracts begin somewhere in mid-August...so yes football camp is part of that mess...but that's a few months away.

Pre-season makes the Baby Jesus cry

33. I think in your position, I'd rather work football than baseball
From my half-vast experience in the minors and as a sportswriter, I gathered that young ballplayers are the most immature of all athletes.

34. All sports and athletes have their foibles
Guys are immature, girls bring drama...some sports are exciting but bring a lot of injuries and other sports are relatively injury-free but are boring as hell.

There's always a trade-off somewhere. It's just that about 8 days into pre-season (and it's 12-14 hour days) I always question why I didn't decide to major in history...I could be out of the 90 degree heat and reading a book or something

35. Man, I didn't know you worked those kinda hours!
I did a story years ago on the trainer for the local A-ball club, and he put in days like that, but he was the only trainer, so...

I think he's in Seattle now. He was, anyway. Gonna check their web site.

Hey, what's your dream job? You wanna work in the pros?

36. You really only work those kind of hours during pre-season
The rest of the year it kind of mellows out, by what degree depends on the position. HS trainers (especially if you don't have an assistant) will work considerably more hours than someone at a DI school (because you usually have one sport per season or year to deal with) but then you must factor in travel time with a college or professional job. I guess it all evens out in the end.

I would love a job in the pros (great pay as well) but getting those jobs are really more about who you know than what you know and a bit of luck.

I had an opportunity to intern with the Philadelphia Flyers in college but would have screwed with my school schedule so much that it might have set me back a year for graduation. Still I probably should have went after it...I had better grades than the girl that did get it.

So realistically I'd like to get a job at the college level, I prefer dealing with a more "mature" athlete...14 year olds suffering from their first sprained ankle tend to get on my nerves...but at this point in my career I need to take a job anywhere it is offered. I'd probably make more money working in high schools, especially in NJ, we're paid on the teacher's scale.

I haven't seen the Night Owls thread lately. Where'd it go again?

In any case, I'll probably be up a while longer. I'm goofing off and listening to classical and new age music tonight for relaxation.
