okay...I have the windows open -- just heard some horrible screeches
like some sort of fuzzy animal was being ripped apart by a winged creature :scared:

Wasn't cats caterwauling...it was something else. Lasted for almost 10 minutes.

Owl hunting rabbit perhaps?

:scared:

1. Ten minutes?
An owl would have something finished off faster than that. Maybe a cat, that carried something off?

The screech of prey is a sound that once you hear it, you'll never forget it. Eeek.

5. Wonder if a little one
got separated, and starting calling for mom?

It's baby bunny time, here. I've got at least three broods in either my yard or my neighbor's. My neighborhood's turned into a den of sin.

Amazing how quickly they quit the nest. Poor bunnies. I read once that they have an average life span of six months, tops.

7. I don't know this was really loud
and blood curdling. It sounded really close to the house too. Our house is in a heavily wooded area of the neighborhood so there are all kinds of critters roaming around. Our dog has killed a few groundhogs in the past (unlucky things). There are two or three hawks that are regulars in the area too. Haven't heard any owls recently--we used to have one I'd hear almost every night.

6. The most eerie thing you'll ever hear
Is a bobcat. They sound just like a woman or child crying, out in the woods.

9. Guy behind me used to keep peacocks
The first time I heard the mating cry, I called the police. I was sure someone was being brutally murdered. Fortunately, the cops laughed when they set me straight. Apparently, I wasn't the first to do that.

Some animals make the most godsawful noises when they're horny.

10. That can be an awful shrill sound.
My daughter's former MIL had one. He was hilarious with his mating rituals.

We stopped once along a river after hearing what we thought were cries for help. Turned out it was a peacock too.
