My daughter won the top prize in Maine for student journalism.

The awards are put out by the Maine Student Journalism Association, and Goobie won First Prize for Editorial writing and Second Prize for Arts Reviews (in one article she criticized the movie "The Golden Compass" for its cowardly retreat from the book's atheistic message. Heh.) The school paper won Third Prize in the State. I'm so proud of her! Right now she aspires to be a politician who makes a positive difference. Hmmmmmm.

I was grocery shopping last week and while lurking at the frozen goods dept, was approached by a woman I barely know. She said, "I had to stop and tell you how wonderful Henry is..." (Henry is my youngest). She went on to list his various wonderful attributes and ended saying she was sorry to bother me, but she wanted me to know, etc. It totally made my day, especially since Henry is no academician and he had an episode of trouble at school recently.

Kids are GREAT! Except Juergen, who claims he can't get the lawn mower started. Yeah, RIGHT. :eyes: :P
