On tap at Tavernertavern: Russian River Supplication

A flemish sour - the flavor of the week in the craft brew world. I've had a few sours, and I never really liked them. They simply, are too sour. I don't mind the Brettanomyces yeast (its a wild, spontaneously fermenting yeast that has a very distinct flavor - often called barnyard funk.) But this one is OK. It's not oppressively sour - in fact, once you get past the initial sourness its a pretty sweet beer.

To add to the flavor, they aged this in Pinot Noir barrels for a year. You can taste a little bit from the tannins and wine remnants - and they cut the sourness a little.

All in all, a sour I can actually drink.
